“It’s a boy!” Three little words uttered every day to overjoyed parents around the world. In that instant, gender is identified and expectations abound. A male child will play many roles during his life.

He is a son, may be a father, uncle, lover and husband. But the many roles and expectations that this boy will embrace or have foisted upon him during his lifetime are constantly changing and increasingly full of contradictions.

Presented by comedian Mike King, Blokes is a six part series exploring the contradictions and realities facing men today and a guide to social survival in the dawn of the 21st century. We talk to real men about the issues that concern them – or not.
