Leaky Houses

Up to 30,000 New Zealand houses are at risk from substandard building practices undetected as a result of the deregulation of the building industry in the early 1990s. This Target special investigates the leaky house crisis by;

• Following the cases of ordinary New Zealanders battling to get justice and compensation for their shockingly substandard new homes

• Use of hidden cameras to observe confrontations with developers

• Use of hidden cameras to film inspections of a house by building assessors

• Consulting a leaky buildings expert who examines each case
